Your sport fishing adventure of a lifetime will begin as we embark from the marina at Boca Chica Panama and travel due south through the islands to the blue waters of the pacific ocean. The Boca Chica mainland is surrounded by many islands. Some of these islands are inhabited, but many are not and they are perfect for exploration and picnics.
The "Bite" is always Hot at Isla Montousa. Marlin, Tuna & Wahoo are the Big Three at Montousa. The nutrient rich waters in this area are created by the Hannibal Bank. The upwelling draws an abundance of Pelagic Sport Fish.
Just a short distance offshore is Isla Ladrones. At Ladrones you will find Marlin, Roosterfish, Cubera Snapper, Wahoo, Tuna and Pacific Sailfish. Close and convenient Ladrones makes for a great day of sportfishing!
Marine Forecast
Our farthest offshore run is to the Hannibal Bank. The travel time is well worth it because the Hannibal Bank is world renowned for multitudes of Black Marlin and Giant Yellow Fin Tuna in the 250 lb plus class.

Black Marlin
The fishing is great off of the Pacific Coast of Panama. Some of the favorite game fish in this area include Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, Striped Marlin, Pacific Sailfish, Cubera Snapper, Grouper, Pargo, Rooster Fish, Yellow Fin Tuna, Tarpon, Snook, Amberjack, Dorado and Wahoo. The Black Marlin shown weighed in at 1017 pounds.
Cubera Snapper
The Cubera Snapper shown was caught in about 65 feet of water near Isla Ladronie. We have also caught Cubera Snapper in the same area weighing in excess of ninety pounds. These monster fish love to eat full sized, live Bonita. We once caught a big cubera snapper after boating the fish we chummed the water with cut bait and suddenly there were so many red snapper on the waters surface that the water appeared to be blood red. The live Bonita bridle rig is the natural trolling bait of choice for these waters.
Roosterfish 2010
The inshore fishing along the beaches, mangroves and costal estuaries will produce some Big Snook that are just waiting for the right lunch and a good fight. Remember to keep a lookout for crocodiles, they grow some big ones down here. Around the islands you will find lots of red snapper in the 5 to 25 pound range and some big Rooster Fish too. There are also plenty of lightening fast mackerel. Just drop and troll a shiny silver spoon from the boat and you're sure to get some immediate light tackle action. There are many beautiful uninhabited islands along both the Pacific and the Atlantic coasts of Panama.
Pictured above is John Henderson with his first Roosterfish. So if your coming to Panama to fish with Panama Rick, be prepared to go home with some great fishing stories and a pair of sore arms after a day of Panama Rick Sport fishing. Come on Down.....We'll Hook You Up!
